Burial Notes: Jesse at age 20, enlisted on November 6, 1863 in Nashville, Tennessee for three years. He was member of Company K, 3rd Regiment, Tennessee Calvary Volunteers. He was 5'5" tall, had dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair. Occupation was a farmer. He was honorably discharged July 6, 1865. Sgt. Jesse C. M. Johns was captured at Sulphur Trestle, Alabama, on September 25, 1864; confined at Andersonville, Georgia. Paroled at Jacksonville, Florida on April 28, 1865. Admitted to hospital at Hilton Head, SC for six days on May 9, 1865. Transferred to Jacksonville, Florida and turned over to Pro. Mar. May 23, 1865.
