Tombstone signed by Rosebrough & Sons of St. Louis, Missouri.

R.L. Rosebrough and Sons—Marble and Granite Works: Richard Love Rosebrough founded the Rosebrough marble business in St. Louis, Missouri in 1858. When Rosebrough died in 1866 his sons continued and expanded to a large building located on Olive Street downtown St. Louis. The Rosebrough business covered a wide territory in the United States as well as Mexico. According to the Industries of St. Louis by J.M. Elstner & Co. in 1887 “Many of the finest achievements of memorial art that are to be found at Bellefontaine, Calvary and other local cemeteries are the product of these works, and the house also constantly receives orders for other parts of Missouri, from Kansas, Illinois, the South and Mexico, for their superior and beautiful work.” The Rosebroughs were awarded a first place for work entered in the St. Louis 1904 World's Fair. According to descendant Terry Rosebrough, the business was sold in the 1940s to Rosenbloom Monument Co. who continue to operate two locations in town.
