Abner Inghram

Burial Notes: Abner Inghram was one of nine children born to Zack and Anna colvin Inghram. Abner attended Inghram hill school where he attended until the sixth grade. He worked on the family farm until around eighteen and eventually got a job working on the Steele and Gosa railroad.Later he went to Birmingham where he got a job working in the iron mines. After noticing that many of the workers who had been working in the mines for years were suffering with severe caughs and other illeness he quit and return to Greene County and got a job working for a logging company. In 1931 Abner purchased 120 acres of land from Esmer Bambarger for $500.00. Shortly there after around 1932 Abner met Levert Mitcheam and they were married the same year. Shortly after marring and with the help from friends and relatives he was able to buy an old house near Eutaw which he dismanteled and moved it to his property and buid his own house. Abner and Levert had eight Children. Alma, who died in 1987, Abner Levert, Zack, Johnny Cleveland, Julian Bernice, Anna Louise, James MCKenley, and David Donald, who died in 2006. Abner Inghram was murderd in 1965 at the age of 59 years near the home of Marvin Wilson an ex-convick Marvin Wilson a white man was never indited for the murder. Levert Inghram died in 1995 at the age of 91 years.
