Burial Notes: William P. Byrd, a single farmer, age 20, enlisted in June, 1861, in Co B, 11th Alabama Infantry. He was present at many battles including Seven Pines, Gaines Mill, Frasiers Farm, Manassas #2, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Salem Church, Gettysburg, Wilderness, and was severely wounded at Spottsylvania Court House. He was detailed wounded in Sep 1864 due to wounds received on May 12, 1864. (See Ala.Dept of Archives & History/Civil War Soldiers).
