17 May 1830 McGuire On Wednesday evening last Capt. Dennis McGuire was killed while loading a barge at Demopolis. Rather death came Friday from inhaling fumes from an explosion. He was an Irishman by birth, former resident of New York.
24 May 1830 Hood We have been informed Mr. ? Hood of vicinity of Greensborough received a fatal fall from his horse last Saturday. Died a few hours after fall.
31 May 1830 Hillhouse Died -- on Saturday 22nd inst. in Greensborough Mrs. Nancy Hillhouse in 37th year. She leaves a husband and three little daughters. Joined church in 1812.
  Hill At his residence in this county on 25th inst. Mr. Green Hill in his 57th year of age.
  Thornton Died -- in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday the 25th inst. Mrs. Mary Amelia Thornton, wife of James I. Thornton, Eng. Sec. of State, aged 21 yrs/ 5 mo. Left husband and two small daughters.
  Snedecor Died -- on Saturday night 29th inst. Caroline daughter of Isaac C. and Sara C. Snedecor aged 4 mo.
14 June 1830 Pickens Remains of Gov. Pickens.

 

When citizens of Greensborough and vicinity learned the remains of this excellent were on their way from Mobile to be deposited in his family graveyard at his late residence, they convened for purposes of making arrangements for their reception and interment. The following committee was appointed: John Gayle, John Bell, L. A. Stollenwerck, John A. Stollenwerck, Claudius Jones, James B. Scott, Wm. S. Bolling.

Remains reached this village Thursday evening and were placed in an apartment in Mr. Dickens large brick building. The committee appointed following Pall Bearers: Gen. P. May, J. B. Stickney, W. C. Gillespie, Hugh McCann, J. Marrast, Jon Erwin, William Young, John Malone, Levin Gayle and J. A. Beal -- Marshalls.

The whole group moved to the Presbyterian Church where Rev. Mr. Hillhouse delivered the discourse.

  Mack Mr. John Mack on Bogue Chitto in Dallas County was murdered on 29 ultino.
21 June 1830 Wren On night of 15th inst. Mr. Sanford Y. Wren of Sprinfield was accidentally killed by a gunshot wound while pursuing r-a-way negroes.
  McDowell Died -- In this county on 18th inst. Wm. P. McDowell highly respected member of the Bar. Native of Fayette County, KY. where his father and a number of relatives still reside. His remains were interred with Masonic Honors at residence of his brother in the county.
28 June 1830 Chiles Died -- On Monday 21st inst. at his residence near Springfield Maj. William Chiles aged 56 years.
19 July 1830 Kennard Died -- on Thurs. evening 15th inst. Mrs. Nancy Kennard Consort of James P. Kennard of this vicinity.
26 July 1830 Steele Obituary -- Departed this life on night of 20th inst. in this vicinity Miss Eliza D. Steele daughter of James D. and Mary Steele of Jones County, Ga.
2 Aug 1830 Boyol Died -- At her residence in this county on 28th inst. Mrs. Virginia Boyol in her 19th yr. of age. Leaves husband, infant, a mother and numerous other relatives.
  Archibald Obituary -- Died on 20 ult. at his residence in Greene County, Samuel Archibald Eng. aged 68 years 3 mo. Native of N.C. When very young was an active soldier in Revolutionary War. Many years a member and elder of Presbyterian Church.
  Steele Died -- at Dr. Wm. Purnells' in Greene County on Saturday, Dr. W. P. Steele late from South America. His sister will hear something of much interest by applying to Dr. Wm. Purnell.
6 Sep 1830 Graham Died -- On August 10, 1830 near Washington City George Graham Eng. Commissioner of Gen. Land Office.
25 Oct 1830 Sanderson Obituary -- Died on 11th inst. in this county. Mr. William Sanderson, a native of Pennsylvania in 41st year of age. Emigrated to Ala. at early period of its settlement.
13 Dec 1830 Tilman Obituary -- Died on 10th ult. at residence in Greene County, Mr. Daniel W. Tilman in 30th year of age. Leaves wife and five children.
10 Jan 1831 Giles It is our melancholy duty to announce the death of William B. Giles. He died on Saturday evening last at his own seat in Amelia County. Been in public life for nearly 40 yrs. State legislature, both houses of Congress. Executive Chair and in convention of Va. Always in 1st rank.
