Martha Elvira Wilson Obituary
Obituary provided by Charlotte Patterson
MRS. M. E. WILSON
At the close of day Sunday, March 8, 1942, Jesus opened wide the “Pearly gates
of Heaven” and the sweet spirit of our beloved Mother and Grandmother entered
into eternal life. How hard to part with her and how we miss her, but Jesus knew
best when He carried “Granny” to that land of pure delight, where there is no
more suffering or pain.
How sad and lonely we are without her and her many vacancies that never can be
filled. But with His help we’ll be reconciled to God’s will for we know that He
never makes a mistake and that she has joined the spirit of her beloved husband
in that eternal home where there is no parting.
“Granny” was born Feb. 16, 1853 in Greene County and married S. A. Wilson,
August 26, 1875.
God blessed their happy union with six children, but He saw fit to carry three
of them on before them. She united with the Christian Church early in life and
attended regularly as long as her health permitted. She was laid to rest beneath
a beautiful mound of flowers in the Union Christian Church Cemetery March 10,
1942.
Sleep on Dear “Granny,” for it is only “Good night” until we see you again.
One Who Loved Her.
Note: This is Martha Elvira Upchurch Wilson. She was married to Simeon
Alexander Wilson. Her parents were John Upchurch and Armena Jane Hicks.
