What follows is my 2nd attempt at sending the info via email. I tried to decipher the
list of items in the estate but failed miserably. Probably, I was able to interpret every

Cover Page STATE OF ALABAMA I, William R. Hamlet of the State and County above GREENE
COUNTY named knowing that it is the lot of all mortals once to die, being of this time in
feeble health but perfectly in my natural mind and having all my to. cutting complete do
make & constitute this my last will & testament. 1st. It is my desire that all my just debts be paid. 2. It is my desire that all my property of every description remain and be kept
together on my plantation in full possession of my wife Sarah M. Hamlet for the purpose of
her & my children support as well as the education of my youngest children. 3. It is my desire when either of my daughters or other of my sons becomes of age, or
marry, my executor shall allot off a negro worth six hundred & fifty dollars, and if
there is more shall give to the child so becoming of age or marrying that amount in money
so as to make it equal to what I gave my married daughter Sarah Jane Lee. 4. It is my wish & desie that if my wife Sarah M. Hamlet should at any time after
my death marry then a division of my property shall take place as follows. 5. I desire that my wife (above the 1st words are written "loan unto my")
Sarah M. Hamlet one third of all my land, one third of all my stock of every kind together
with the following named negro boy Mileym, Carr, Jack & Martha. During her natural
life and at her death revert back for equal division among my children to wit. Elizabeth
Margaret Hamlet, Sarah Jane Hamlet, Robert G. Hamlet, Clementine Hamlet, Willy G. Hamlet. 6. If my should die before my youngest son becomes of age then my executor shall cause
an equal division between all my above named children to be made & each to share &
share alike. If she should live until youngest child becomes of age or marry then the
dissolution in the manner set forth above shall be made. 7. I do hereby nominate and appoint my wife Sarah M. Hamlet and Frederick Meriwether
executor. To this my last will ----- whereof I have here unto set my hand & seal W. R. Hamlet In presence of the following witnesses Jno. B. Anderson March 12, 1852 Probate Court June 12th 1854 In The Matter Of The Will of Wiliam R. Hamlett Desc'd In this matter Levi Rhoden and John Anderson two of the subscribing witnesses to the
instrument of counting attached purporting to be the lat will and testament of William
R.Hamlet dec'd. Being called and sworn before today that they were present & saw the dec'd Hamlet
sign and execute said writing that he signed in their presence --- of F. L. Constantine
the other witness & published and declared the same to be his last will and testament.
That they signed their names as witnesses in the presence of the testator and of each
other. Witnesses for this say that at the time of signing & publishing said writing as
his will the dec'd William R. Hamlet was of sound mind. Subscribed and sworn to Levin Rhoden before me in open court Jno. C. Anderson June 12th 1854 J. R. Evans, Judge The State of Alabama Greene Co I, James R. Evans, Judge of the Probate Court of said County certify that the
foregoing will was presented to Probate on the 13 day of June 1854 and that the same &

office, in the sum of eighteen thousand dollars fo rthe payment of which we bind
ourselves, our Heirs, and administrators jointly and severally, firmly by these presents,
sealed with our seals and dated this --- day of June 1854 THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE OBLIGATION IS SUCH THAT WHEREAS THE ABOVE BOUND Sarah M.
Hamlett has been duly appointed executrise of the last will and testament of William R.
Hamlett, deceased. NOw if she shall well and truly perform all the duties which are or may
be by law required of her, as such Executrise, then the above Obligation to be nul and

lat will & testament in Alabama in manner and form following [to Mary?]. I leave and bequest to my daughter Martha Crawford the sum of one dollar. Also give and
bequeath to my son William R. Hamlett the like sum of one dollar. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth McAlpine the like sum of one dollar.
I also give and bequeath to my daughter Emilina L. Herd the sum of one dollar. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Clementine C. Constantine the like sum of one
dollar. I also give and bequeath to my daughte Anna G. Hamlett one negro man named Isham.
Also one negro boy named Peter. Also one negro woman named Pherriba. Also one child named
Ruben. Also seven head of cattle, also all of my household and kitchen furnishings. I also give and bequeath to my son Charles W. Hamlett all residue and remainder of
goods and chattle, cropland and ----- after my just debts are paid and whom I nominate,
constitute and appoint my sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have ---- by my hand and seal this twenty six day of October in
the year of our lord one thousand, eight hundred and twenty-nine. Signed, dated and delivered in the presence of ----- ? ---- Willis R.H. Chadworth ---- R. Hampton Robert H. Chadworth being sworng this 7th April 1830 that he wrote the written will for
Elizabeth Hamlett. That by her appreciation he signed his name as a witness thereto. That
he saw her sign ---- the ---- as her last will & testament. States that she was of
sound mind and memory. To be in a low state of health. States taht she requested him at
the same time to specify to Mr. Willis and Mr. Hampton to come over and sign their names
as witnesses thereto which he did and Mr. Willis being also sworn states that the Mr.
Hampton, the other witness have been ----to by Mr. Chadworth sent to the witenss Mr.
Hamlett on the day after the date of said will. He read said will to Mr. Hamlett who
acknowledged that the signed and sealed the same as her last will and testament and
requested him and the executors to sign their names as witness which they did. She was of
sound mind and --- memory. Sworn to before me this 7th April 1830 Attest L. B. --- Clerk The following hand written notes were included with the will of Elizabth Hamlett 1. On the 24th July 1834 there received of Francis L Constantine admr with the will of
annexed of Elizabeth Hamlett deceased and also guardian of Ann Arringotn, my wife before
her marriage Ann Hamlet heir & legalee of said Elizabeth Hamlett deceased all our
every part and parcel of said estate both property & moneh to which I am entitled in
right of my said wife from him as a adm. & guardian as aforementioned. & I do

Pollard, Francis L. Constantine & James Yeates are held firmly bound unto Thomas Y.
Moody Judge of the orphans court of said County & to his successors in office in the
sum of three thousand dollars for which payment will & truly to be made in kind our
---- our heirs executors & administrators jointly & severally firmly by these
presents. Sealed with our seals & dated this 6th day of April 1830. The condition of the above obligation as such that whereas the above bound Willis
Pollard has been duly appointed guardian to Ann Hamlett of the age of about fifteen years
are of the union minor heirs of Elizabeth Hamlett late of said county - deceased. Now of
the said Willis Pollard shall will & truly perform all the duties which are or may be
by law required of him as such guardian then the above obligations to be void otherwise to
