Polly Hargrave Will in Greene county AL 1825, submitted by Lyn Betts, as follows:

In the name of God amen


I Polly Hargrave being in a bad state of health and low in boddy(body). Tho of sound and reflecting mind; do make this to be my last will and testament. In form and manner following- In the first place I desire all of my just debts be paid.


Then I give and bequeath unto Richard Wright after my death my quarter section of land whereon he is now living and all of its improvements and priviledges thereunto belonging ___ also all of my stock of hogs to have and to hold for his only use benefit and behald forever. (Lyn's note: 20 head of hogs were listed in Polly Hargraves' inventory of property on February 15th, 1826.)


Then I give and bequeath unto my friend Jesse Tharp for the natural respect that I have for him after my death one negro Boy named Joseph also one Sorrel horse, five head of cattle, also one Lot of Land in the town of Erie and all of its tennaments and priviledges thereunto belonging also all of my household and kitchen furniture and every other pieces of property that I am seised(?) or possessed of.
To his only use benefit and behalf forever.


I also constitute and appoint him to be my true and lawful Executor. In testamony whereof I have hereunto ____ my hand and affixed my seal this the 20th ___mber 1825
