“A company of Infantry or Mounted Infantry must
consist of at least Sixty-four Privates.
“Companies raised under the Act of
Congress of 21st August 1861, will not be considered in actual
service for the purpose of receiving pay and subsistence, except when
called for by the President.
“They will not be called for until a necessity
arises for service, and serve only so long as the emergency requires, and
return again to their homes and remain until again called out.
“They will not be required to go beyond the limits
of the State.”

FOR LOCAL
DEFENSE
I certify on honor that this muster roll shows the
whole number and true condition, at this date, of Captain Beat No. 11
12 & 13 Company, Ala. Vols. Reserves, raised and
mustered into service, for local defense, under the Act of Congress of 21st
August, 1861 call of the Govner to serve within the State of
Alabama for six months from the Greene County date of muster;
and that the remarks set opposite the name of any officer or soldier are
correct.

The within Roal as Stated is correct as fair as
I Could obtain the fact you will perceive that Some ages is not stated in
those Cases the parties are absent gone to the army on business. Som of
them to other parties on business. The roal is as correct as can be got at
this time and the company desired in to detachment for patrol duty and if
any more is nessery only to that tha (they) perform thare (their)
duty please inform me as erly (early) as practicl (practical)I
