A little info for your Greene county page:
James Criddle bought land in Greene county on Jun 1, 1826 (ref BLM land patent document
4792). There is also a Criddle on the 1830 census so he is a possible early resident as
defined by your 1830 cutoff date. James had a son named Jesse who was born in 1810-1812.
Jesse married Sarah Clopton about 1829-30. Can't give you an exact date on that at this
time. I have a record of their 2nd child, named James born in 1832 in Greene county. The
Clopton's are not listed on the census of 1830 so they either arrived after the census or
were in Pickens county (the Criddle land was on the county line).
Migration of the Criddle family:
Jesse Criddle is recorded on the 1850 census of Chickasaw County, Mississippi where the
some of his descendants still live.
My connection:
James Criddle>Jesse Criddle (Sarah Clopton)>James Criddle (Narcissus
Neal/Davis)>J.R. Criddle (Elizabeth Jolly)>James C. Criddle (Sallie Harmon)>Exie
Estelle Criddle (William Jackson Tadlock)>Wille Estelle Tadlock (Raymond Grady Harris)
and I am Raymond Junior
Additional connection to Greene county:
Ref BLM patent document 17532 and doc #20388 Land bought by Jedithan Porter on Sep 20,
1839. Jedithan Porter>Landlot Porter>Nancy Ann Porter md. William Marion
Jolly>Elizabeth Jolly md. J. R. Criddle as listed above. Jedithan and Landlot are
recorded as having died in Greene county. Nancy Ann moved to Chickasaw county, Ms with her
husband. This move was about 1850 since Elizabeth Jolly was born in 1852 in Ms but her
older sister Eliza was born in Al. in 1849.
