ARMY ROLL CALL FOUND AT GORDO
(from Democrat, copied from the Birmingham News, date unknown, probably the
1930’s or ‘40’s.)
GORDO, Ala.—The roll of Company B, Thirty-Sixth Alabama Regiment, Confederate
Army, was brought to light here by Mrs. H. B. Durrett who found the list in
looking through some old papers of her father, J. W. Park. He served four years
as a corporal of the company, which was mobilized at Tuscaloosa March 24, 1862.
The roll includes the names of commissioned and non-commissioned officers as
well as privates and also the names of those dying in service.
The 100 names follow:

We think the above is a Greene County company of Confederate soldiers because it
contains the names of so many Greene County people. We publish it so that
descendants of those men may cut it out, and file it away for future reference.
It may be as hard for your great-grandchildren to trace their ancestry back to
the Civil War as it is to trace back now to the Revolutionary War.
