Richard, David and William Bragg - (1818) Children of Thomas Bragg and Hannah Knott from Virginia, developed the area on the Tombigbee River known as Bragg’s Bluff. David Bragg married Elizabeth Knott 30 Jan 1830 in Greene County, Alabama. William Bragg married Unity, also from Virginia. Their brother Branch Bragg married Nancy Cammack in 1833 in Greene County.

 

James K. Durden- (1820) from South Carolina, was a planter in the Bluff Port area.

 

Richard Garrett - Miller and Physician, born in North Carolina married Charlotte Taylor in 1847 in Mobile County, Alabama.

 

William H. Knott - (1819) Born in Virginia, was a planter in Bluff Port area. He married Elmira J. Bragg 18 Feb 1835 in Greene County.

 

Edwin Robinson (1820) from Virginia, married Caroline Sherine in 1836, born about 1820 in North Carolina. Edwin was a planter in the Bluff Port area.

 

Col. James Innes Thornton (1830)

Thornton established the 2,600 hundred acre estate known as the Thornhill Plantation northwest of Forkland. Thornton, from Fredericksburg, Virginia, was the first Secretary of State of Alabama and held this office for thirteen years.
