July 23, 1863, for service May and June 1863. Signed with mark “X”. He was
admitted to General Hospital, Howard’s Grove at Richmond, Virginia, on May
17, 1864, with V.S. [gunshot] to right hand. Appears on a register at
Chimborazo Hospital No. 5 at Richmond, Virginia, on May 19, 1864.
Transferred to Howard’s Grove. Paid $44 on May 24, 1864, for service from
September 1 to December 31, 1863. Admitted to Stuart Hospital at Richmond,
Virginia, with vulnus sclopet. [gunshot] on August 21, 1864. Signed with a
mark “X.” Appears on a register at Howard’s Grove on September 21, 1864. He
was returned to duty on September 25, 1864. Record again shows him at
Howard’s Grove on September 24. Returned to duty on October 7, 1864. He drew
clothing on December 31, 1864. Reported present on company muster roll for
January and February 1865 on extra duty as brigade ambulance driver by order
of General Gracie. Surrendered by General Robert E. Lee at Appomattox
Courthouse, Virginia on April 9, 1865.Lenard Jones, son of Edmund J
Jones and Mildred Murphy was born in Franklin Co., NC. Lenard is buried in
